Registered Psychologist & Director
Hi there! I am Lara, a Registered Psychologist and Director of Lara Beaton Psychology.
I know that starting therapy for the first time can be daunting. My aim as a Psychologist is making sure you feel comfortable and safe in taking that first step in seeking support. I am warm and compassionate in my approach and I believe that collaboration in therapy is essential.
I am experienced in working with adults, utilising evidenced-based therapies through a holistic and trauma-informed lens in my practice.
I have experience working with a range of mental health concerns, including:
- complex trauma and PTSD
- anxiety & phobias
- obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
- addiction
- grief & loss
- general mental health concerns
I have a particular interest and passion in utilising EMDR therapy in my work with complex trauma and PTSD, in the military and general population.
My treatment approaches include:
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Schema Therapy
Who is Lara outside of being a psychologist?
Outside of the therapy space you'll often find me outside in nature or on a road trip to the beach with my partner and puppy. As an introvert at heart, I also love just getting cosy at home and reading fantasy fiction novels.
